Trustees Required

Are you someone wanting to put something back into social work, who wants to help and support fellow social workers?

Do you have time and commitment to help understand the personal challenges faced by social
workers across the UK?

Would you be able to support and reflect the values and aims of this Trust?

The Social Workers Benevolent Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees who are all volunteers.
They provide the leadership to the charity and are responsible for its legal and financial governance.
The trust was established to provide support to social workers facing hardship and this is achieved
by providing grants to qualified social workers.

The majority of our meetings are held virtually, as trustees are from around the UK. Each year we
have 6 meetings for allocation of grants and 2 for business matters. We cannot promise that this is
an easy voluntary job as there are many applications to read through, comment upon and discuss at
the meetings. Other work arises out of the general running of a charity and this work is usually
covered by subgroups which we would need trustees to join.

We are looking for Trustees to join our board and we particularly need to recruit to the vacancies of
Minute Secretary and Vice Chair prior to our current holders retiring, ideally, before they leave in
June 2025, so that new Trustees can learn the roles.

If you are interested in taking up this challenging but rewarding work, please take a look at our
website at www.swbt.org and complete the appropriate forms below to apply. Also see our policies
and procedures including:

If you wish to discuss further, please contact our chair: susan.roxburgh@swbt.org
Whilst we are recruiting as an ongoing process, we are having a closing date for this round of
recruitment which is 30th September, 2024.
